LIGO
I have always wanted to tour some of the world's cutting-edge research centers and LIGO is certainly one of them. LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) has two (2) major facilities; one in Louisiana and another in Hanford, Washington. LIGO is trying to detect the very fluctuations of space-time caused by interactions such as two stars orbiting each other. Yes; you read that correctly. Fluctuations in space and time. It is really too hard to fathom how gorgeous physics can be some times and LIGO is one of Botticelli's Venus.
